A crypto Investor filed a lawsuit against AT&T because of security breach

A customer of AT&T lost his fund because of the sim swap attack. Victim claimed that the company is aware about such kind of scams but still they authorised the hacker to access the account. 

Jamarquis Etheridge, a resident of the U.S. state of Texas,  is a customer of AT&T. On Wednesday Etheridge filed a lawsuit against AT&T in the Southern District of Texas against AT&T. 

Etheridge’s attorney, Richard E. Brown filed the document in the court. Filed documents claimed that AT&T is aware about the Sim Swap ( sim hijacking) scams and frauds but still they allowed the hacker to access his wireless account.

“AT&T was unable to contain this security breach until the next day, enabling wrongdoers to drain plaintiff Etheridge’s cryptocurrency exchange account”

Etheridge also claimed that earlier this company already announced about such a scam and the firm claimed that they are working to prohibit such kind of activities. But AT&T failed 

“AT&T engages in practices that … fail to provide reasonable and appropriate security to prevent unauthorized access to its customer wireless accounts, allowing unauthorized persons to be authenticated and then granted access to sensitive customer wireless account data, including access and control over 159.8 ethereum tokens”

Victim also claimed that he lost 159.8 ETH and he wants compensation against his lost & damages, treble damages, punitive damages, award for attorney fees and reimbursement of all costs.
