The MetaMask app was removed from the Apple app store and the MetaMask team succeeded in bringing the app visible on the store within 24 hours but left many questions behind.

MetaMask is a popular Ethereum wallet that also supports Arbitrum, Optimism, Binance Smart Chain, Polygon, and Avalanche. Currently, this wallet has 30 million active users which is a very big number for any decentralised platform.

On 14 Oct 2023, the MetaMask wallet app was removed by the Apple app store. Following the report, many people claimed that the Apple team removed the app because they found some suspicious code in the MetaMask wallet app.

The MetaMask team officially responded to these reports and confirmed that there was nothing suspicious related to the app and also promised to bring the app back as soon as possible.

The MetaMask team also urged people to remain away from similar kinds of MetaMask apps, to remain away from potential scam traps.

On the same day, the MetaMask team succeeded in bringing the app back to the Apple app store but failed to provide any reason as to what was the main story behind this issue.

It is worth it to note that in September of this year, a similar kind of incident occurred with a popular decentralized Crypto wallet “Trust wallet”. The history of the crypto & Apple app store has not been better. In late 2022, Coinbase exchange was struggling to keep its app live on the Apple store and later removed some NFTs-related services to remain alive across the Apple app store’s ecosystem.

At the time, the MetaMask co-founder Dan Finlay showed strong support for the Coinbase exchange and said that if Apple would play the game of Monopoly similarly in the future then all the other Crypto apps would be next to face difficulty.
