Bad actors are running scams with the name of Ethereum co-founder

A Reddit user found an Instagram account, which is trying to show that he is Vitalik Butterin and also trying to introduce a huge crypto scam. 

As we know, Vitalik Butterin, Co-founder of Ethereum, is not available on all social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, So bad actors are taking advantage of it.

On 3 January, a Reddit user found an Instagram user, who is trying to show himself as Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Butterin. That Instagram user has around 643,000 followers. That account has only 11 posts. 

According to a Reddit user, that scammer is taking advantage of the unique user name of Vitalik’s Twitter handle i.e @Vitalik.eth. 

Reddit user urged the Ethereum community to upvote his post so that the community can easily highlight these kinds of scams and they can alert the community easily to fight and report against the fake account.

Reddit also said that that user is promoting suspicious links to users through dm when people start a conversation about Ethereum. And also that scammer sent a suspicious link to him, to introduce a classic Crypto scam.

The reporter also noted that it is not easy to report impersonators because the Ethereum co-founder has no official account on the Instagram platform. 

Multiple Vitalik Buterin Accounts 

When the Bitcoinik team did an investigation against such kinds of things, then we found that there are multiple accounts of Vitalik and every account is trying to be a real Ethereum Co-founder’ account, but in reality, all of these are scam because no one account is official. 

One another fake account has more than 500k followers on Instagram. 

Cardano founder on social media scams

A few months ago, Charles Hoskinson, founder of Cardano & co-founder of Ethereum, said that he is getting better popularity in the crypto Industry and bad actors will take advantage of it. 

And also he warned that he doesn’t own any social accounts on any of the social media platforms except Twitter.
