Visa partners Wirex to issue crypto cards

Wirex & Visa collaborated to launch cryptocurrency-supported debit cards in the UK & APAC region. 

Visa is a popular San Francisco-based company, known to provide card payment services. This company issues credit cards, debit cards, and prepaid cards. For a few years, Visa has been working on a highly efficient & crypto-supported payment platform. 

On 13 Feb 2023, A popular Crypto payment platform Wirex announced via a press release that Wirex established a partnership with payment giant Visa to expand services in the United Kingdom (UK) and several countries in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region.

Under this partnership, Wirex will issue Debit cards & prepaid cards for the customers. The issued cards will support the Crypto assets balance.

Both companies aimed to expand their reach in Europe, the USA, and APAC between two countries with a collaborative approach.

Matt Wood, Head of Digital Partnerships, Asia Pacific at Visa, said that Visa wants people to easily interact with all possible payment options including cryptocurrencies. 

“We’re excited that Wirex is expanding their focus on Asia Pacific, making it easy and seamless for people to spend their crypto balance at the millions of merchants that accept Visa in the region,” the Visa officer said.

Svyatoslav Garal, Regional Managing Director of Wirex APAC, also shared his happiness about this partnership and noted that Visa’ secured & safe payment service will help the Wirex company  to launch the next level app & payment cards. 

Around a week ago during the StarkWare Sessions 2023, Visa’s crypto division head Cuy Sheffield said that Visa is working on a payment platform to process high-value funds transactions with the help of USDC stablecoin on the Ethereum network.
