YouTube’s new CEO is Web3 & NFTs friendly

YouTube hired Neal Mohan as a new CEO and the crypto community believes to see Crypto NFTs related new plans in the YouTube platform under the leadership of the new CEO.

YouTube is a Alphabet’ video-sharing platform. To this date, YouTube is a top video platform where several million people make money as a full-time job. Initially, this platform was founded by Steve Chen, Chad Hurley, and Jawed Karim in 2005 but later Google acquired this platform.

On 16 Feb 2023, Susan Wojcicki announced her decision to step down from the YouTube CEO role and said that she hopes to start a new chapter to focus on family, health & personal projects.

Now the current CEO is Neal Mohan. In the past, Mohan worked as Chief product officer. Mohan said that he aims to complete the former CEO’s mission as a new CEO.

In the past, Mohan brought many new controversial products into the YouTube ecosystem e.g YouTube shorts, remove dislike button, YouTube music, etc.

In Feb 2022, Mohan outlined the company’ plan to bring NFTs, and Metaverse-focused support on the YouTube platform, so that the company may bring a new revenue model for the creators on the YouTube platform.

At that time Mohan also talked about Web3, NFTs & Metaverse integration to bring a better experience for the creators to engage with fans & audiences.

“Web3 also opens up new opportunities for creators. We believe new technologies like blockchain and NFTs can allow creators to build deeper relationships with their fans. Together, they’ll be able to collaborate on new projects and make money in ways not previously possible,” Mohan wrote in a blog post on Feb. 10, 2022.

Now in the present time, the majority of the crypto proponents believe that Mohan may bring a tokenized system on YouTube and also will add Crypto & blockchain-related services, but it will be a matter of time.
