Miami Mayor Suarez explains why he is eager on Bitcoin mining

The re-elected Miami Mayor Francis Suarez shared his point of view on bringing the Bitcoin mining operations with Nuclear Power energy.

Francis Suarez is Mayor of Miami City in the US and in the past, he announced that he will accept his salary in Bitcoin. However, at that time, it was not all about the bullishness of the Mayor on Bitcoin because at that time elections were very near to being held. Now all these things are out of politics and elections.

Francis Suarez appeared in an interview with the What Bitcoin Did podcast on 14 December. In the whole interview, the main context of the discussion, the Miami Mayor talked about the entry of the Bitcoin mining business in Florida.

In the beginning, Saurez said that he was already bullish since long time to bring Bitcoin mining operations to the Sunshine State.

“to get a larger market share of Bitcoin mining, which I’m a huge proponent of. I think, what people don’t understand – it made a big issue of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) which is a bogus issue”

Saurez noted that there is huge surplus and wastage of energy in many regions of America. So with the introduction of Bitcoin mining operations, electricity can be used in a much better way to generate revenue.

Saurez said that Florida uses around sevenfold more than what they are producing. On the other hand, Sunshine city produces a higher amount of energy after Texas.

On Miami’s electricity production, Saurez said that Miami is “predominantly nuclear”. And the wastage of nuclear energy is a big issue. So there should be rules on the nuclear power plant companies to work for the Bitcoin mining operations.

“If you invest and you allow the nuclear power companies to stay state-of-the-art, it can be done extremely safely.”

Further, Saurez said that Bitcoin mining operations may bring job opportunities in the rural areas of America. He added:

“Bitcoin is something that will just help, you know, sort of the elite or people in the urban areas, and this is delivering jobs”
