Ledger wallet is restricted for fake Google chrome extension intended for stealing crypto

The users are being warned by the suppliers of cryptocurrency hardware wallet Ledger concerning the matter of stealing its crypto is one using Google chrome, reported on 06 March 2020. 

The fake extension on Google chrome browser, lead to steal users crypto and get quick access over the user’s wallet by lending a 24-word recovery phrase, Addressed by French crypto company.

               The first view towards Google chrome extension was recognized by the director of security, Harry Denley, working at the blockchain interface platform MyCrypto.

Google adds promoted advertisement for fake extension

                           The chrome extension makes its user wrongly acknowledge that the chrome version of the original ledger live app is represented, which makes them to scrutinize their balance and sanction out the transaction, by lending out wallet seed phrase they were told to download an extension and attach the Ledger wallet to it.

 MyCrypto exec. Denley claimed that funds should be protected by storing cryptocurrency offline if it makes no sense to install and use such an extension with the help of a hardware wallet.

                      According to Denley, If the fake chrome extension ticked the people, he would never be flabbergast, stating that “big problem in the cryptocurrency area, to teach people their private key should stay offline”

Users are still in control of extension, as it was being given lead through advertisements on Google by Google ads.

Warning announcement:

                                       As per Ledger, the users will never be forced for any recovery phrase and 24-word seed phrase to lend on any internet device.

Not for the first and last, ledger users face a fake Chrome extension.

Last Year, U.S. Commodities Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) says LedgerX has “not yet been approved by the Commission” to offer physically-settled bitcoin futures, contradicting the company’s claims.
