The E-commerce marketplace planned to introduce crypto-based payment options for the users.
Now the crypto industry has shifted to that era, where people are not limited to using crypto for trading purposes only. These things are causing big reasons for the other tech & non-tech platforms to adopt this industry in any way of the medium, to step with this innovative technology-based industry.
Recently in an interview, Jamie Iannone, CEO of eBay, shared the plan of his company to go with the crypto adoption to allow the customers to pay in crypto as an alternative option to the traditional fiat system.
Jamie said that the oldest e-commerce platform is now going to become a platform for the young generation, Gen Z and Millennials.
The CEO confirmed indirectly that the team is working on this new initiative of crypto payments integration and the official announcement for the same may happen before 10 March 2022.
Jamie asserted that new efforts of crypto payment methods were taking place because of the surge in the volume of fund transactions, which already touched around $85 billion directly by the paltform.
It is interesting to note that current initiatives by eBay are not much new to go with crypto because already in 2014 eBay tried to integrate Bitcoin payment options.
In May 2021, eBay changed its policies to make decisions to allow the customers to buy NFTs on its platform.
Not every e-commerce platform is interested in crypto directly
In the present time, crypto adoption in payment options is surging rapidly and all are because of ease of access to the funds in the fully decentralized medium.
In particular, Amazon is currently standing at the top level in the e-commerce platforms but still, it is not planning to go with crypto directly.
However past recruitments by Amazon hinted that it will work on crypto & blockchain technology research and development.
Few people were predicting that Amazon may announce to accept crypto payment soon but later Amazon officially responded to such predictions and assumptions and confirmed that Amazon will do research in this industry and have no plans to accept crypto in payment methods.
