One of the leading cryptocurrency exchange and service provider Coinbase now allows it’s wallet users to send Bitcoin (BTC) to human-readable addresses (like your name or username) instead of long traditional addresses.

Coinbase announced this in an official blog post explaining how anyone can send Bitcoin or Ethereum just in few seconds.

Coinbase wallet users now can send Bitcoin to usernames or names like @bitcoiner, and Ethereum Name Service (ENS) addresses like walletfan.eth

Sending and receiving Bitcoin is always a big headache, you need to check every alphabet and digit of the addresses multiple times to make sure there is no misunderstanding. Remembering the Bitcoin and Ethereum addresses are not possible. The addresses are in hexadecimal format like 0x89136a83664fa0673930be34463e444260775dc or 3GVBSgLLLjAoNRKxw5hm7kANN2P2mEQJy.

Human readable addresses solve the problems and make it easier to send and receive Bitcoin and Ethereum for new users. This step will help the adoption and mainstream use of the cryptocurrencies. Users can now send cryptocurrencies to their family and friends as they do with traditional payment apps PayPal, Google Pay, etc.

Send Bitcoin to Coinbase Wallet Usernames

Every Coinbase wallet user must have a username like (@walletfan). Coinbase wallet users can send BTC to other Coinbase users just on their usernames no need for full bitcoin addresses. This service is currently for Coinbase wallet users only sending funds to another wallet may result in permanent loss of your assets.

The service is available for all supported coins of the Coinbase wallet including Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Litecoin, Ethereum, Ethereum Classic, XRP, Stellar Lumens, Dogecoin, and all ERC20 tokens (including USDC and DAI).
