A blockchain infrastructure company Parity that runs the core node of Ethereum network, is delaying the Ethereum Hardfork until 6 September.
EtherWorld founder Pooja Ranjan shared noted from Ethereum Core Devs Meeting 69 using GitHub on 24 August, a day after the devs meeting.
According to Parity Core developer,Wei Tang the organisation needs two more weeks to select the block number for Ethereum Hardfork dubbed “Istanbul Hardfork”. Wei Tang further added:
“We need time till 6th September to finish the implementation. Not only because we accepted EIPs late but right now we just happened to be a large code base refactoring and we probably want to merge them first before merging Istanbul EIP.”
The block number will be decided after the Parity’s implementation is complete. The devs decided a deadline of 6 September for all groups to fully implement the Ethereum Improvement Proposals (EIPs).
This is a testnet Hardfork and after the successful implementation the mainnet Ethereum Hardfork will be done in near future.
Wei Tang explains that Ethereum chain is now facing some gas issues that must be cleared before the implementation of the hardfork. The testnet hardfork may be implemented with the gas issues but the mainnet Ethereum Hardfork must be implemented after all the issues are fixed.
Vitalik Said Ethereum Chain is Full
Recently the co-founder of Ethereum, Vitalik Buterin said that the Ethereum network is almost full. Buterin explained:
“Scalability is a big bottleneck because the Ethereum blockchain is almost full. If you’re a bigger organization, the calculus is that if we join, it will not only be more full but we will be competing with everyone for transaction space. It’s already expensive and it will be even five times more expensive because of us. There is pressure keeping people from joining.”
