Telecom Gaint AT&T Start Accepting Crypto Payments Via BitPay

United States Telecom Gaint AT&T start accepting Bitcoin and crypto payments via BitPay for phone bill pays, published in an official Blog Post on 23 May.

BitPay Platform allows users to convert the cryptocurrencies to fiat instantly. More than 20,000 business firms use BitPay to accept Bitcoin and Cryptocurrencies payments.

AT&T has become the first United States firm in the telecom industry to offer bill payments with Bitcoin.

Kevin McDorman, vice president of AT&T Communications said:

“We have customers who use cryptocurrency, and we are happy we can offer them a way to pay their bills with the method they prefer.”

AT&T has announced back in 2018, that they are working on Blockchain solutions with Microsoft Azure and IBM Blockchain platform. The aim of the suite is to provide additional accountability and transparency to the more complex chains.

Back in Dec 2018, AT&T filed a patent application with U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) for blockchain based “social media history map” that will allow BitPay to track the social media data of the subscribers.

The Application Explains:

“The social media history map platforms described herein may take advantage of the immutable and permanent nature of blockchain records to store, and provide access to, data representing online transactions that occur on multiple social media applications.”
