Google Cloud invested in artificial intelligence (AI) startup firm Anthropic. This AI firm was funded by Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF) in April 2022, who is currently facing multiple fraud charges in the United States.

Anthropic is an Artificial intelligence (AI) company. Under the leadership of FTX’s former CEO & co-founder Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF), Anthropic raised $580 million & about $530 million came from SBF and his former business partners. In short, this AI company received $580 million from FTX exchange & FTX affiliated company Alameda Research. SBF was 95% owner of Alameda Research. And the whole thing happened around 6 months before the bankruptcy of the FTX crypto exchange along with 100s of its affiliated companies.

On 4 Feb 2023, Financial Times reported that Google Cloud invested $300 million in Anthropic. After the FT report, the AI firm confirmed that Google Cloud partnered with Anthropic but failed to disclose the actual investment amount.

Through the same announcement, the AI firm confirmed that the company raised funds from SBF & also Alameda Research during the Series B fundraising round.

“The Series B round was led by Sam Bankman-Fried, CEO of FTX. The round also included participation from Caroline Ellison, Jim McClave, Nishad Singh, Jaan Tallinn, and the Center for Emerging Risk Research (CERR),” the AI company stated.

According to FT, SBF invested $530 million alone in this AI firm but many Crypto Twitter users think the investment amount was high, which may be near $1.1 billion.

A few Twitter users noted that there are chances that the FTX bankruptcy team will take all these funds back from this AI firm, to pay back funds to the FTX creditors.
