McDonald is now accepting payments in Bitcoin & top-ranked stablecoin USDT (Tether).

McDonald’s is a popular American international fast food chain Corporation, which was founded by Richard and Maurice McDonald in 1940 as a restaurant in San Bernardino, California, United States.

On 3 October, Popular Bitcoin dedicated news website “BitcoinMagazine” shared a video on Twitter of a person paying crypto assets as payment for fast food at McDonald’s.

In the shared video, customer ordered food using McDonald’s kiosk and paid for it using a digital wallet app on mobile. In the payment procedure, there was the QR code system where Bitcoin and Tether were accepted.

Elon Musk’s proposal for McDonald accept Dogecoin

On 25 January 2022, Tesla CEO Elon Musk asked McDonald’s to accept Dogecoin as a payment option but McDonald indirectly rejected the proposal.

Later, Tesla’s CEO didn’t respond on this matter but later McDonald showed a significant inclination toward the crypto space in February.

On 9 February 2022, Josh Gerben, Trademark Attorney, informed about the 10 Metaverse, or say virtual reality concept-based project, related trademark filing.

Josh pointed out that McDonald planned to launch a virtual shop to allow customers to buy foods uniquely.

However core concepts of Metaverse-like projects are not dependent on Cryptocurrencies but still, there are opportunities for crypto innovations to evolve with unique use cases.

Metaverse-like projects need huge computational power to provide real-time processing of high amounts of data, which is possible through blockchain technology.

Secondly, the Virtual world in the Metaverse ecosystem requires a new currency to enjoy services, so probably stablecoins may play an important role.
