Zuellig Pharma is tracking expired medicines and vaccines with the use of a blockchain-based technology tracker app.

Besides the use of blockchain technology in financial services, many tech companies are showing better confidence to use the same technology in a real-time tracking system. The medical industry even started to adopt the blockchain industry and its Innovations.

Zuellig Pharma, Singapore based medical firm, developed its blockchain technology-based tracker app to track the details of Medicines like expiry date and associated information.

The app developed by Zuellig is an eZTracker. This app can track the Covid-19 vaccines’ expiry date, date of manufacturing, and the temperature at which it should be stored. The app is available for Android and iOS users, which includes a very simple QR code scanning system and advantageous features.

Daniel Laverick, The Vice President and Head of Digital and Data solutions of the company, said that eZtracker will help to prohibit the use of expired medicines and vaccines. Further continues:

“For products registered with eZtracker and depending on the needs of our pharma principals, patients can scan the 2D data matrix on the product packaging to verify key product information like expiry date, temperature, and provenance through its app powered by blockchain.”

Daniel also noted that such innovations are very useful because due to limitations of time and the burden of huge works may result in small mistakes and that further may end up into a big issue for the health of patients.

Recently on 12 January,  around 2 people filed a case and claimed that doctors injected expired covid-19 vaccines. Later investigation revealed that the doctors injected the expired injection to 36 people, who faced huge stomach pain.

Daniel also noted that such Innovations are useful for human life and also people can help us to fight against such issues in the medical industry by collaborating with the direct use of the eZtracker app.

During the Q&A session, The Head of Analytics Tristan Tan said “This application should be available to all patients so that they have instant access to complete information at their fingertips.”
