Third-party audit confirms World Coin’s Orb device is secure enough
A third-party security auditor confirmed that World Coin’s iris scanning device is secured enough to protect against hackers.
World Coin is a new crypto project, launched in the middle of 2023. Sam Altman, the founder of this project, aimed to provide a better level of decentralised human identity verification Protocol with the help of this crypto project. Altman has expertise in the Artificial intelligence (AI) sector, as he is CEO of popular AI firm OpenAI.
On 14 March 2024, The World Coin team shared an audit report on the Orb device by a third-party security auditor, Trails of Bit.
The security experts of the security audit firm investigated World Coin’s Orb device for six weeks and found that the device is secure enough to protect against hackers or any type of bad actors.
The report noted that they didn’t find any type of vulnerability associated with the Orb device.
Orb device is used to scan & send the human’s eye iris data to the World Coin app.
Many times many critics claim that collecting human data by a non-government organisation is a very risky thing and that can be misused by any bad actor or government, in case of a hack attack.
Now this latest audit report will surely help to shut off the mouth of World coin critics.
World Coin & Legal Hurdles
Since the launch of this project, many countries’ regulatory bodies opposed this non-government backed application and many of them imposed a ban on the collection of Human data.
Recently Spain’s privacy watchdog has ordered Worldcoin, the company, to cease its operations. This action comes after concerns were raised regarding Worldcoin’s practice of scanning eyeballs to create digital IDs in exchange for cryptocurrency WLD coin.
However Worldcoin project aimed to solve the future’s challenges of identification of humans & internet bots but in this era of the internet world we don’t need such a verification tool and probably this is the reason why World Coin projectct is not getting significant adoption & support in the whole world.
