Dogecoin foundation successfully filed and registered for the logo and name of Dogecoin to protect the project from bad actors fake attempts.

Dogecoin is a first-ranked meme coin in the crypto industry. This coin is standing at 13th rank by 24 hours trading volume. However, it is not much better like other crypto assets such Cardano and Ethereum blockchain projects but it has better support by the Tesla CEO Elon Musk.

On 3 March, the Dogecoin Foundation, non-profit organization behind the Dogecoin project, notified the Dogecoin Community that they successfully filed for the trademark for the name of Dogecoin. And also for its logo.

Foundation indirectly stated that it was not needed but was necessary to register for the trademark because of many bad actors attempting for the same thing.

Foundation noted that even the logos, which were created by Christine Ricks and the team members of the organization, were also in danger because of fake attempts to register.

“Given an increasing number of bad faith attempts to register trademarks for “Doge”, “Dogecoin” and even the logos created for Dogecoin by Christine Ricks by people and organizations, we had no option but to register them to protect all good.”

Ross Nicoll warning on Trademark of Dogecoin project

On 16 February, Ross Nicoll, core developer in the Dogecoin project, announced to leave the project because of his personal decisions.

Ross Nicoll said that he was facing a huge burden and stress as a developer, so he decided to leave the project.

With the departure from the project, Ross raised issues on some fake Trademarks with the name of the Dogecoin project. He said that the project team of Dogecoin should do something on such fake attempts, which are trying to own the real Dogecoin project’s name.
