Many crypto YouTuber accounts got hacked and hijacked accounts published Ponzi scheme-based videos.

With the adoption of the crypto and blockchain industry, we are also moving toward new challenges. Hackers are also trying to use Cryptocurrencies to facilitate anonymous transactions, to remain away from any kind of threat. Hackers are trying their unique methods to facilitate scams.

After the noon of 23 January, many crypto-related YouTube accounts published a Ponzi scheme-related video (send BTC/eth/BNB and receive new OWCY new coin). All were part of some hijack/hacking attack on these YouTube channels because channel owners claimed that the video got published without their permission.

Hacked accounts belong to popularly known channels like BitBoy Crypto’, ‘Altcoin Buzz’, ‘Box Mining’, ‘Floyd Mayweather’, ‘Ivan on Tech’, and ‘The Moon’ and also many more.

A Binance smart chain address, used in this hacking game, to receive funds by tricks to the users is this one

As per available details, the address received more than 2.2 BNB, which is worth more than $814.

Boxmining YouTube channel owner Michael Gu shared this incident summary with Cointelegraph and said that the team encountered this unfair activity within a few minutes and suddenly they deleted the video.

“Luckily we caught it within two mins of the video going live and managed to delete it…By that time there were already views and comments from my community.”

He also noted that he rechecked the whole thing and noted that there is no access to the account through any virus or bug. And also claimed that it can be a big mistake by YouTube.

A Reddit user claimed that Hackers used the sim swap trick to access the YouTube account. Through the access of sim, hackers bypassed the two-factor authentication security easily.

“They are all posting with a title like “ONE WORLD CRYPTOCURRENCY”. They have an address in vid and description to send your USDT/USDC/BNB/ETH to receive a new crypto called OWCY.”
