Nike filed three applications with the United States Patent and Trademark Office to enter in the Metaverse moment.
With the increasing trend of crypto space with NFTs collectibles (digital artwork), many big companies and celebrities are joining crypto to generate extra revenue. However, many crypto personalities don’t believe in NFTs for the long run but still, Ethereum Co-founder Vitalik Buterin says that it is just a cultural concept and it will push the people toward adoption.
On Wednesday, Nike filed an application with the United States Patent and Trademark Office regarding the brand name “Nike” and “just do it” title. It is expected that the company will use the digital form of these tags in the virtual world of NFTs space.
Besides the filing with the USPTO, the company also filed two other applications for the Air Jordan” and “Jumpman” logos.
To enter the virtual world of NFTs, the company is ready and seeking to hire virtual material designers, to represent the company’s preparation of entry in the NFTs Metaverse.
The recent rebranding announcement of the Facebook company into Metaverse indicates that Nike is following the footsteps of the Facebook company.
Nike: an old crypto player
No doubt that apparels manufacturers are stepping with the metaverse movement but here Nike is already a crypto & blockchain inclined player.
For instance, in the past, Nike successfully achieved the patent to tokenize its CryptoKicks shoes on the Ethereum blockchain.
But here we can’t say that Nike has no competition because already sneaker brand RTFKT Studios released their shoe products in digital collectibles and offline, obviously with the use of NFTs concept. In a collaboration with Andreessen Horowitz, the company raised $8 million for their initiative in the digital shoe’s launch (NFTs collectibles in the form of shoes).
