Independent US presidential candidate asked crypto people to vote for him so that he could allow crypto-friendly laws in the US.
Robert F. Kennedy (RFK) Jr., a political figure and environmental lawyer, supports cryptocurrencies. He views cryptocurrencies as a tool for financial freedom and innovation, advocating for less regulation and promoting the use of digital assets in the economy. In April 2023, RFK Jr. announced his campaign for the 2024 United States presidential election.
On 30 May 2024, At Consensus 2024 Kennedy promised to end regulatory hostility toward crypto if elected, claiming a threat to “transactional freedom” is an issue for Americans leading into November’s election.
The US presidential candidate said that he wants to allow all American citizens to use a currency that is decentralised & transparent to use.
To explain the need for a decentralised financial system, he dragged attention toward “Freedom Convoy”, a protest between citizens & the Canadian government over controversial decisions during the COVID-19 pandemic.
At the time, the Canadian government froze fiat and crypto to stop protesters. In that protest, self-custody crypto wallets played an important role in helping the protests to remain banked, despite the government restrictrictions over traditional financial systems.
RFK Jr. noted that the Canadian court ruled that all the measures taken by the Canadian government against protestors were unreasonable and unconstitutional.
According to RFK Jr. the Biden Administration drove out the crypto sector to foreign countries like Singapore, Switzerland etc via a hostile crypto regulatory environment.
Furthermore, RFK Jr. said that he will end the hostile regulatory environment & ensure the safety of crypto investors from malicious schemes and pump-and-dump schemes if he is elected.
